I love everything about oysters. The way they taste, the ecological value they bring to an ecosystem, the people that care and cultivate them. I proposed the story to Atlanta Magazine early last year and it took me a long time to pull it together and to coordinate all aspects of the story, in words and images. But it came out beautifully in the March edition of the magazine under the title "Georgia oyster revival ."

Reporting and photographing at the same level can be challenging and there were no shortage of challenges to capture the complexity of this story. As I wrote, " Georgia oyster history is a story of wild abundance and insatiable appetite."  After the near collapse of the oyster wild population by the 1940s, the rise of sustainable aquaculture is bringing a new chapter to the story. The article focuses on Perry and Laura Solomon who are among the first adopters of oyster farming in Georgia. If you are in Savannah or Atlanta, I invite you to taste their small, deep-shelled Salt Bombs. They are just delicious. Bon appétit!
