The Hank Aaron oak tree in East Point's Connally Nature Center has been nominated as a co-state champion in 2019 by the Georgia Forest Commission. With an impressive circumference of 200 inches, a height of 168 feet and a crown spread of 120 feet, the white oak stands out among the surrounding trees in the area. It is called a wolf tree in that it survived a clear cut, many forests were cut for pasture or timber harvests. Some lucky trees were spared, like this one, whereas all other trees have been cut.
